Get Involved

With over 40 different volunteer groups involving over 1,300 members, ASE can’t achieve its mission without our volunteers! Opportunities range from short term commitments such as Micro-Volunteering or participating on a workgroup, to one-year commitments serving on Task Forces, to limited term positions on Committees and Boards.  There is something for every echo enthusiast!  Get involved today!

Committees

ASE Committees are made up of current ASE members. Members are encouraged to apply for volunteer positions and indicate the areas that they may prefer working in. A volunteer assignment runs from July – June in conjunction with the ASE Annual Scientific Sessions. Call for Volunteers are sent out every fall via electronic newsletter. Selection is then made by spring of the following year and assignments then begin in the summer. Assignments are yearly at the discretion of the ASE President-Elect and are often renewed until three years, when volunteers are rotated off to allow for more opportunities for incoming volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, or will be rotating off your assignment soon, please look out for Call to Volunteers in the fall eNewsletters and consider applying for a position. Preference is given to members with the FASE designation.

Councils

ASE Councils bring together ASE members with similar professional interests and areas of expertise, providing a forum for networking, knowledge sharing, provide guidance to the ASE Board of Directors regarding subspecialty area, help create education offerings and guidance on standards of care to the Board and Guidelines and Standards Committee.  ASE Councils are led by Council Steering Committees. Call for Nominations are held in the fall for Leadership positions within the Council to start the following summer (July 1) for 2-year terms. If you are interested in serving on an ASE Council, please look out for Call for Nominations in the fall eNewsletters and consider applying for a position.  For more information about Councils, please click here: https://www.asecho.org/membercouncils/

Specialty Interest Groups (SIGs)

ASE Specialty Interest Groups(SIGs) support our members who have a like interest in specialized areas with growth potential in cardiovascular ultrasound. SIGs bring together ASE members with similar professional interests and areas of expertise, providing a forum for networking, knowledge sharing, and the development of SIG-specific programs and services within ASE.  For more information about how to start a SIG or to participate in a current SIG, please click here.

ASE Forums

ASE prides itself on creating communities of like-minded cardiovascular ultrasound enthusiasts. ASE Forums are groups where ideas, knowledge, and views on a particular issue can be exchanged. ASE Forums are open to both members and non-members.  Forums are created under the direction of the Membership Steering Committee.

Mentor Match

Mentor Match is a member benefit that connects ASE’s vast international network of members by fostering lasting relationships that promote growth within the Society and the field of cardiovascular ultrasound. The program lasts six months and pairs ASE member mentees and mentors based on career path, areas of practice, and professional development goals. The application for our next cycle is now OPEN. Apply here! The deadline to apply is Monday, November 18. The program is only available to active ASE members. Please email MentorMatch@ASEcho.org with any questions.

Task Forces

ASE Task Forces are volunteer groups focused on an area of need. Their projects are expected to be completed within a one-year term, unless the timeline is specifically designated by the president when formed. Task Forces are not evergreen; their existence depends on the need for a specific project.
