E3 2008

A multi-disciplinary case-based learning experience with national and international teachers, this one-day event precedes the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Scientific Session.

This exciting program will include updates on utilization of new technologies to image the
right heart, evaluation of patients with right heart structural abnormalities, innovative
surgical and percutaneous approaches in the treatment of congenital heart disease
as well as the approach to the patient with pulmonary hypertension.

Audience
As was the case in the hugely successful inaugural year, E3 is a unique case-based teaching symposium suitable for all practicing cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiologists-in-training, echocardiographers, cardiovascular sonographers and cardiac anesthesiologists. This year’s program will focus on evaluation of the right ventricle, interatrial septum and interventricular septum.
The educational experience in 2008 is designed with the goal of providing the audience with a comprehensive multi-disciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic approach to right ventricular diseases. An international expert faculty will present the very latest in a format of case studies and mini-lectures. Each case that is presented will be designed to illustrate and teach a specific imaging, clinical and management point. Mini-lectures are designed to give an overview of the recent advances on specific topics.

Credits
The American Society of Echocardiography is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Society of Echocardiography designates this educational activity for a maximum of 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The American Society of Echocardiography is committed to resolving all conflict of interest issues, and its mandate is to retain only those speakers with financial interests that can be reconciled with the goals and educational integrity of the educational program. Disclosure of faculty and commercial support sponsor relationships, if any, will be made known at the symposium.

ARDMS and CCI recognize ASE’s certificates and have agreed to honor the credit hours toward their registry requirements for sonographers.

Program Objectives
After participating in this program, attendees will be able to:

1) Identify the two dimensional and Doppler diagnostic features of right ventricular, interatrial and interventricular septal pathologies.
2) Use cardiovascular imaging to evaluate right ventricular function.
3) Identify and better define diseases involving the right ventricle, tricuspid valve and interventricular and interatiral septum.
4) Utilize cardiovascular imaging data to resolve challenging and difficult clinical questions in the diagnosis and management of the diseases of the right ventricle.
5) Distinguish between the medical, percutaneous and surgical therapies available for the treatment of diseases of the interatrial
and interventriclar septum, right atrium, right ventricle and tricuspid valve.
6) Recognize the importance of cardiovascular imaging assessment in determining the timing and efficacy of interventions in treatment
of right atrial, ventricular, interatrial and interventricular septal and tricuspid valvular disease.
